When it comes to ghost hunting shows on television, one trend that can't be ignored is the seeming rise in demons in paranormal investigations, but the majority of viewers think this trend has been 'overdone'.
In fact, a massive 73% of those that responded to a survey we recently published said that there were 'too many' episodes or shows focused on demons. Of the more than 1,000 responses, 19% said that the amount of shows featuring demons was 'just the right amount', while just 7% said there was 'not enough'.
Viewers felt that the inclusion of a demonologist in a paranormal reality show negatively impacts on the show's credibility, this according to 54% of survey responses. Conversely, 24% said that a demonologist had a positive affect on a show's credibility, while 23% said the their inclusion has no impact at all.
As for other specialist methods of investigation, 61% think that the use of ghost hunting technology has a positive impact on the credibility of a show. While 20% said they thought gadgets are a negative, 19% here responded saying that ghost hunting technology has 'no impact' on credibility.
Viewers were a little more split when it came to the inclusion of a psychic medium. 42% of those who responded to the survey said that the inclusion of a psychic was a positive thing, while 24% said it had no impact, and 34% said it damaged credibility in some way.
You can see the full results of our survey below, which was conducted in September 2023 attracting 1,047 individual respondents.
Paranormal Television Survey Results In Full
The survey also revealed that viewers feel that ghost hunting shows inaccurately portray real paranormal investigations and that distrust of paranormal TV is sending viewers to YouTube.
Our paranormal television is still open and accepting responses. We may follow up this article if there are significant changes to the results in the future. This might naturally occur if the survey reaches a wider and more varied set of respondents.
You can help out by having your say here and sharing the survey with your friends and family, even if they're not actively interested in the paranormal, we'd love to hear about their thoughts and experiences.
