Steve's new book 'Alone At The Inn', that accompanies the film, follows Steve and his unorthodox approach in the film, which included location-specific investigative techniques such as a DJ set for the spirits of the inn, was aimed not at validating the existence of the supernatural, but exploring the reputed phenomena of the Ancient Ram Inn.

The Ancient Ram Inn in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, carries a deep history spanning centuries, as well as a reputation for paranormal activity. The original structure, dating back to the 13th century, has seen significant modifications and various name changes, becoming a pub known as The Ram Inn in 1820. Acquired by John Humphries in 1968, the Inn ceased to operate as a pub due to restrictions imposed by the brewery.

John dedicated himself to the inn's preservation and to sharing its stories of hauntings. The inn has attracted a wide range of visitors, from ghost hunters to historians, owing to its unique past, haunted tales, and historical significance. After John's death in 2017, his daughter Caroline continued his work, dreaming of reviving the inn as a community hub while contending with its notorious reputation for unexplained phenomena and ghostly presences.

Steve undertook a variety of experiments and vigils, using devices like CCTV cameras equipped with infrared night vision technology, a toy robot with gesture recognition, and various trigger objects. He also used a spirit box, attempted to entice spirits with a DJ set, and conducted a media blackout experiment focusing on personal experiences over technological evidence.
