Maltman's Hill - Haunted History

Pluckley, Kent

Pluckley in Kent is said to be the most haunted village in the UK and one of its supernatural landmarks is said to be one of the most haunted stretches of road in the country. Maltman's Hill is the site of reports of a phantom coach, complete with ghostly horses and a headless coachman.

The ghostly vision is most frequently seen on Maltman's Hill but it has also been witnessed in other parts of the village. The village also has a couple of other haunted roads, including Frith Corner where a highway man who was killed by a sword in the 18th century has been spotted. And, on Dicky Buss Lane, the ghost of school master has been witnessed. It's said he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree some time after World War I.
