Gardner Dozois's award-winning 1973 novella, 'Chains of the Sea,' is set to be adapted for the screen, bringing its mix of aliens, artificial intelligence, and ancient earthbound mysteries to a broader audience.

The novella, which has developed a strong following among UFO enthusiasts thanks to Lue Elizondo, explores a world where mysterious alien spacecraft land on Earth, leading to a dramatic confrontation between humanity, AI, extraterrestrials, and a hidden ancient intelligence. The story presents a unique perspective on the UFO phenomenon, suggesting there might be a non-extraterrestrial explanation for these mysterious sightings.

The adaptation is being produced by About It Films. Producer Josh Michaels, who first discovered 'Chains of the Sea' after hearing Lue Elizondo discuss it on 'Theories of Everything,' shared his enthusiasm for the project. "The story really stuck with me," Josh said. "We’re thrilled to bring 'Chains of the Sea' to the screen, especially since it’s become such a favourite within the Disclosure community. We hope to create a film that resonates with fans of the novella."

Gardner Dozois was a major figure in science fiction, known for his work as both a writer and editor, particularly with 'Asimov's Science Fiction' and his influential anthology series, 'The Year’s Best Science Fiction.' He also worked closely with George R. R. Martin on several notable anthologies.

"Dozois had a remarkable vision, and the questions raised in 'Chains of the Sea' are more relevant than ever," said Max Strand, Josh’s partner at About It Films. "With Disclosure becoming a mainstream topic, it’s the perfect time to introduce this story to a wider audience."
