Will Derek Acorah Be Reacquainted With Any Of The Spirits Of Elstree Studios While In The Celebrity Big Brother House?
This article is more than seven years old and was last updated in April 2018.
Tomorrow night 'Celebrity Big Brother' returns to Channel 5 and amongst the celebrity line-up is the nation's favourite psychic medium, Derek Acorah, best known for appearing on Living TV's 'Most Haunted'.
Derek will of course be joined in the house by his spirit guide Sam, and 15 other celebrities who will live together in the famous house at Elstree Studios for the next few weeks but this won't be the first time Derek has spent the night at the studios in Borehamwood, which are home to the likes of 'Eastenders', 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
Elstree is said to have a sinister past and Derek has previously met some of the resident spooks first hand. The paranormal legend first spent the night at North London's notorious Elstree Studios in May 2005 when he visited with Yvette Fielding and the rest of the 'Most Haunted' team for a live special.
The three night investigation, dubbed "Nightmare On Elstree", saw Derek and Yvette hold vigils in the studios themselves, a nearby Roman road, and various pubs in the area. They were joined for the live ghost hunt by David Wells, Cirean 'O Keefe and Richard Felix, while David Bull, Matthew Smith and Richard Jones hosted the show from the "hub" at the studios.

During the show Derek encounter a couple of Roman legionaries passing through the studio complex and a family of plague victims who died in the 1600s. But these aren't the only strange goings on at the studios, many who have worked at the facility, which dates back to the 1920s, say there is a spirit who looks after the building on the site, protecting them from anyone who would do it harm.
In 2014 the stars of the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' reported seeing a "black-eyed child ghost" backstage which was terrorising cast and crew, it was described as being "pure evil" and was said to target celeb contestant Caroline Flack.
So, could Derek be reunited with a familiar spook during his stay in the house? Whether he does or not, fans of the paranormal are sure to be tuning in to watch Derek's return to television, as it's fair to say he's been a way from our screens for a little while.
After his controversial exit from 'Most Haunted' just five months after his visit to Elstree, he starred in his own short-lived show 'Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns' and has since made appearances on a whole host of shows including 'Doctor Who', 'Celebrity Juice' and 'Harry Hill's TV Burp'.
Derek is no stranger to reality TV, in 2010, he appeared on 'Celebrity Quitters' with Richard and Judy’s daughter Chloe Madeley, and Paul Danan 'Hollyoaks' star, who also joins Derek in the Big Brother house this series.
Despite not having much of a television career now-a-days, Derek does still tour the UK with his 'Whispers From Heaven' psychic tour.
#CBB kicks off on 1st of August, also on the bill is former Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding, former 'Gogglebox' star Sandi Bogle, and former 'Eastenders' star Shaun Williamson AKA "Barry from Eastenders".
Channel 5 have really missed an opportunity here. After 'The Great British Bakeoff' came to an end last year, poor Mary Berry has been looking for work, if only the Big Brother producers had thrown Mary and Derek in the house together, then we could have had a repeat of this bit of classic paranormal television...
