It all started back in November when Hayley appeared on the Dr. Phil Show and claimed she’s was eight and a half months pregnant with baby Jesus, despite having taken six home pregnancy tests that showed negative.
At the time Hayley said she'd gained at least 22 pounds and even claimed to have felt the baby kicking, "I was sleeping one night and my baby punched the bottom of my stomach and kicked me, and I can feel his head right here, right below my belly button."
Hayley's family weren't convinced by the story, her mother even went as far as calling her "a compulsive liar."
If Hayley was supposedly eight and a half months pregnant in November, now in February she should be the proud mother of the son of God. So, is she? Well, no.
While Hayley's mother and sister were keen to exploit her on Dr Phil's shows, it seems the show's producers were a little more understanding, after discovering that Haley had been subjected to an abusive childhood they made sure she got proper help and she was diagnosed with the psychological disorder "false pregnancy,” in which a woman has all the symptoms of a pregnancy, but without an actual foetus growing in her womb.
During her first appearance on the show, Hayley refused to believe the results of an ultrasound exam, but since then Haley has been put into a residential treatment programme, at first she refused medication but then one night she says she realised the truth, "I woke up one night and I thought I was having a contraction. I looked at my stomach and it went completely flat. It made me realise I wasn't pregnant."
Finally, Hayley admitted that the phantom pregnancy had been caused by trapped wind, "I had a bunch of gas lodged in my stomach and I thought I was pregnant."
She told Dr Phil, "I thought I’d had a miscarriage. I waited a couple of days and my stomach just kept getting smaller and smaller and then I started bleeding. But nothing came out accept blood. So I think the baby would have come out."
Despite admitting her pregnancy was a fantasy, Haley said she was grieving as if she’d had a miscarriage.
