The residents of Button House, living and dead, will come together this December for a half-hour Christmas Special on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The ghosts, touched by Alison's (Charlotte Ritchie) thoughtful generosity, are inspired to give her a special Christmas present in return – but with Alison due back in a matter of hours, can they pull off their ambitious plan in time?
Meanwhile, Mike's (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) loaded Tupperware comes in handy when their journey hits a bump in the road, forcing them to reassess their Christmas day plans. And Kitty gets her moment in the spotlight thanks to a much-needed pep talk from a surprising source.
From the creators and stars of 'Yonderland' and 'Bill', and the original stars of 'Horrible Histories', the popular comedy will once again be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and will follow on from its fourth series that aired earlier this year.
'Ghosts' stars writers and creators Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond. The cast also includes Lolly Adefope and Katy Wix.
Some of the cast will feature in a special festive episode of the companion podcast 'Inside... Ghosts: Christmas Special', featuring Jim Howick (Pat) and Mathew Baynton (Thomas), available on BBC Sounds straight after the 'Ghosts' Christmas special airs on BBC One.
Last year's 'Ghosts' Christmas special, which saw saw Kitty becomes convinced that Santa had made an early stop at Button House when a man is discovered sleeping in a tent on the grounds, is still available to stream on demand on BBC iPlayer now, where you'll also find all previous episodes of 'Ghosts'.
The BBC have also announced several other ghostly treats airing this Christmas including a festive instalment of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith's award-winning anthology series 'Inside No. 9'. Plus Mark Gatiss brings his latest ghost story for Christmas, 'Count Magnus', to the BBC. He also stars as Jacob Marley in a stage production of 'A Christmas Carol' in his own retelling of Dickens' classic winter ghost story.
This year's 'Ghosts' festive special was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy. The Executive Producers for Monumental Television are Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward and Alison Owen and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Seb Barwell. The producer is Pat Tookey-Dickson, the director is Simon Hynd and the episode is written by Mathew Baynton and Jim Howick.
Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond are also executive producers.
