A new series of 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted' starts next Thursday on the streaming platform Discovery+. The first episode sees the team head to Tarporley in Cheshire and the home of the former servant to the royal household, Paul Burrell.
The terrified celebrity, known for his iconic appearance on the reality series 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!', served as the butler to the late Princess Diana for over a decade. He's called in the television investigation team due to a rise in ghostly goings on in his four-bedroom mansion. In the episode, he explained, "The intensity of spiritual activity in this house has increased in volume in the last two or three years."
Paul and his husband complain of being woken to find a figure at the end of the bed in the middle of the night and picking up on the mysterious smell of cigaret smoke around the house. While Paul is convinced that Prince Diana is watching over him, he attributes this paranormal activity to the other spirits in the house. He added, "This shape has always been in this house, as long as I can remember."
Paul said, "I think if anybody could come back, it would be the princess." And if she wanted to tell me something, I think my princess would come to me."
The episode begins with an emotional moment with the show's resident psychic medium, Ian Lawman. Although Ian isn't told about the cases the team is investigating in advance, after entering the Cheshire farmhouse to conduct his solo psychic sweep, he soon realised he was in the home of Paul Burrell and picked up on his link to Princess Diana.
This was a meaningful moment for Ian, who immediately broke down into tears, sobbing, "She's in this house, she's here. She's trying to get a message to Paul." Before becoming overwhelmed and leaving the property for a breather, Ian went on to explain that the Princess was a client of his who he read for.

Later, Ian is joined by his teammates, Barri Ghai and Jayne Harris, as well as Paul. They are using a ghost hunting device called a spirit box, which rapidly cycles through radio frequencies in the hope that spirits might manipulate them to communicate.
Paul tentatively calls out, "Hello. It's me," in the hopes that a response will be heard through the device. Seconds later, a crackling sound echos out of the box, which seems to say, "I'm here." An astonished Paul listens as the voice through the device goes on to say, "Sorry."
Now convinced he is communicating with Princess Diana, Paul asks if she has sent him his husband Graham, the voice through the device cheekily responds, "It's possible." Paul accuses the spirit of teasing him, which leads to a female laugh being heard through the spirit box.
After Ian announced to the group, "I've lost her energy, she's gone," an emotional Paul told the team, "That was very similar to the Princess' voice."
After reviewing recordings of the spirit box session, Barri plays Paul something significant that they didn't hear at the time. Barri plays Paul the recording, which he describes as a "very sweet female voice" saying "France." Paul is at first a little confused by this, telling the team, "I don't understand why it would say 'France' other than the fact the Prince died in France and the fact I went to France to bring her home."
Barri explained, "I think that's exactly right, I think that was just validation because it's such a poignant word." Ian added further clarification, "She said 'France... sorry..." which Paul takes to be an apology for taking him out to France.
Later in Paul's bedroom, Jayne introduces Paul to another ghost hunting gadget called a REM-Pod, a device that radiates its own electrostatic field, and if anything enters this field, the device will alert them by emitting a beeping sound. Focussing on this device, Paul asks, "Is this Dianna?" Immediately, the device beeps, seemingly in response to Paul's question.
But as this team prepares for their nightlong investigation in the house, Jayne reflects on this spiritual connection. "I think that between her and you there is obviously an unbreakable bond that exists beyond the veil," Jayne explained, telling Paul, "Once you leave, I don't think for a moment that she'll stay with us, I think that she'll come with you."
As Jayne predicted, after Paul left the team alone in the house for the night, there was a shift in the tone of the investigation, which became more focussed on the Fleet family, former residents of the house, which dates back to the 1800s. Throughout the night, the team captured various creeping voices in audio recordings, heard mysterious knocking, picked up on the smell of cigaret smoke, and even saw ghostly figures on one of their specialist ghost hunting devices known as an SLS camera.
In the new series of 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted' the team also investigate the homes of kid's TV legends Paul Chuckle, opera singer Russell Watson, reality TV star Chloe Ferry, 'Brookside' actress Tina Malone, and fashion model Jodie Kidd.
You can see the team's full investigation and learn the full story of Paul Burrell's house in the first episode of the new series of 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted', which premieres on Discovery+ on Thursday, January 25.
