TV personality, former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star, and wedding singer James 'Arg' Argent lives alone in an Essex townhouse on the edge of Knighton Wood, which had previously been a part of Epping Forest. But does he really live alone? Despite living in the house for over four years, there are certain parts of the house where Arg feels uneasy, most notably in his loft and his cinema room.

Arg appears in the fourth episode of the brand-new fourth series of 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted', which is available to stream exclusively on Discovery+ now. In the episodes, Arg calls in the paranormal investigative team of Ian Lawman, Jayne Harris, and Barri Ghai in a desperate plea for answers as to the unwanted potential spirits lurking within his four walls.

"100% I'm sure I heard someone climbing or crawling up the house and coming through the windows, but whenever I've gone to check, there's nothing. The cinema room is another room that's never made me feel comfortable. There definitely feels like there's some kind of presence... I've definitely felt a cold chill, I felt like there's someone behind me, watching me through the window. It's stopped me from wanting to use it at all. What makes things worse is I live alone, and I've got no one to reassure me that everything's alright, or that nothing's going on," Arg worries. "I want my mind put at rest, that there's nothing to worry about, that I'm safe, I just want to be able to sleep well at night."

As the team conducts their research on the history of the local area, Jayne quickly makes a huge discovery about the land on which Arg's house is built. "I need to tell you all something, she says excitedly. "There was a gang - a notorious gang - active in this area called 'The Gregory Gang'. They had a very, very famous - or should I say, infamous - member: Dick Turpin!" Jayne shocks Arg and the team with her discovery regarding the villainous highwayman. "The Dick Turpin was a member of the gang. Samuel Gregory was one of the gang leaders, and he was captured and hanged."

Jayne then shows Arg an old map of the area where his house is, right on the edge of a place called Knighton Wood, previously part of Epping Forest – the two key stomping grounds for The Gregory Gang. "They would rob people in this area, and they would escape into the trees," Jayne explains. Arg immediately seems to be aware of the notorious nature of Epping Forest, agreeing that "it's known for bodies to have been buried after murders."

Let's not forget that the last time a television ghost hunting team went in search of the spirit of Dick Turpin in Epping Forest, we were blessed with one of the most memorable paranormal reality television moments in history. Not sure what we're talking about? Three words: "Mary loves Dick."

Arg and the team then head to the cinema room, the main room of his house that he feels uncomfortable in. He explains, "Sometimes I get a few shivers when I'm in there and the temperature drops. I had these visions, or feelings of someone climbing outside my walls, or coming up through the windows. But then, when I go to look, there would be nothing there. And I kind of thought, is this just me being paranoid?"

As the team begins to set up their paranormal investigation equipment, including an Alice Box. This device is said to allow spirits to communicate through a preloaded library of thousands of words. As soon as it is placed down in the room, the AliceBox immediately starts to present words to the team, the first of which is the name "Gregory," which the team links to the infamous local gang of the same name. "Are you serious?" a puzzled Jayne says, making the connection with the gang. "Oh my god, that's incredible. That is the first response that's come out of the Alice," Barri exclaims.

Moments later, the box gives the team the name "Jennifer." Barri speculates, "That could be the female," referring to a female presence that Ian had psychically sensed when he first walked into the property.

"You're not going to believe this, James," Barri excitedly explains when he walks in the room. "I turned it on, just waiting for you to come back and join us, and the name 'Gregory' came out of this box," Barri continues. "What, genuinely?" Arg asks, in disbelief. "Genuinely," Barri confirms, adding, "I've never ever seen the name or the word Gregory appear on here.I know you don't like this room, but there are definitely spirits here trying to communicate with us."
As the first day of investigation draws to a close, the 'Help! My House Is Haunted' team spends the night in Arg's property attempting to make further contact with the Gregory Gang and the female spirit they now believe is called Jennifer.

In the master bedroom, Barri asks Jennifer if she's willing to tell the team her story. Seemingly in response to this, the lamp on the bedside table suddenly turns on, then immediately turns back off. "Jennifer, if that's you? Can you please make the light turn on again?" Barri says, as the light comes on again.

As the team revels in the fact that they seem to have been able to contact Jennifer, Jayne sees a large shadow in the doorway. Spotting the shadow right behind Barri, Jayne shouts, "What was that? What was that? There's a shadow right there!"

Barri jumps across the bed and away from the shadow, screaming, "I saw it! Right behind me!" Jayne confirms, "It was right in the door. Right there." Barri adds, "There was a big black shadow in the doorway."

The next morning, Arg returns to see if the team has been able to banish the spirits causing havoc in his house. Arg seems relieved when the team confirms that there were in fact spirits lurking in his house. "So I wasn't going crazy?" he jokes.

"We captured something absolutely amazing on video," Barri tells him, before showing him the footage of the light turning on and off unprompted. "No way," Arg says, shocked. "Unless there's someone actually there flicking it on and off, that's impossible, that can't happen to the light."

Barri explains, "She was using the lamp as a method of communicating with us, telling us her story." Trying to process what he's being shown, Arg says, "There's a lot going on."

You can find out if the team managed to make contact with the infamous Dick Turpin himself in the fourth episode of the new fourth series of 'Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted', available to stream exclusively on Discovery+.
