Jonathan Ross Makes His Paranormal Investigation Debut In New Discovery+ Series

Television presenter and avid horror enthusiast Jonathan Ross is set to make his debut in the world of paranormal investigation with a brand-new series, 'Jonathan Ross' Haunted Homecoming'. The series, airing soon on Really and Discovery+, promises a spooky and reflective journey as Jonathan revisits places from his youth, uncovering their ghostly secrets.
While Jonathan has always been a fan of all things spooky, famously transforming his home into a haunted castle for Halloween, he's also been outspoken about his skeptical stance on the paranormal in the past, having made logical and humorous dismissals of ghostly claims, so it will be interesting to see if this adventure will change his mind.
'Jonathan Ross' Haunted Homecoming' follows in the footsteps of the 2022 series, 'Jack Osbourne's Haunted Homecoming', which saw Jack Osbourne return to childhood haunts in the UK to explore locations tied to his early paranormal experiences. Jonathan's series will bring a similar mix of nostalgia and investigation, offering fans a unique glimpse into the haunted past of East London, where he was born and raised.
Joining Jonathan on this adventure is paranormal investigator Kate Cherrell, who previously appeared in Jack's series. Kate brings an academic edge to the investigation with her PhD in Victorian Gothic Spiritualism, specialising in historical séance techniques. Speaking about her involvement, Kate said, "This was such a fun shoot, and I can't wait for you to see the finished product!"
Also accompanying Jonathan is Ian Lawman, a psychic medium known for his work on the hit paranormal series 'Help! My House Is Haunted'.
This isn't Jonathan's first brush with the unexplained. In 2022, he fronted the four-part series 'Jonathan Ross' Myths & Legends' for More4, exploring the folklore and mysteries of the British Isles. However, while that series leaned into legend and folklore, 'Haunted Homecoming' will delve into the world of ghostly encounters.
Jonathan's skepticism was made clear during an episode of Channel 4's 'Celebrity Gogglebox' in July 2021, when he and his family watched an episode of 'Help! My House Is Haunted'. At the time, Jonathan joked, "There will be nothing in this programme that you couldn't write off with logic."
He also quipped, "There are more people in the world, therefore, there are more stupid people in the world, therefore, there are indeed more people believing in ghosts." Will spending time in haunted locations change his mind? Or will Jonathan remain firmly unconvinced?
While the exact locations featured in 'Haunted Homecoming' remain under wraps, it's likely that at least some episodes will be set in London's atmospheric East End. One possible location is the infamous Ten Bells pub, which has ties to several victims of Jack the Ripper. The pub is said to be haunted by the ghost of Annie Chapman, one of the Ripper's victims, who was murdered after spending an evening drinking there.
Another potential site is the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, near Jonathan's childhood home in Leytonstone. The cemetery has been the subject of eerie reports since the 1970s, with locals claiming to see a strange orange light emanating from a tombstone. Despite investigations, the source of the light remains a mystery.
'Jonathan Ross' Haunted Homecoming' will air on the freeview channel Really and stream on-demand on Discovery+. A release date has yet to be announced, so keep an eye on Higgypop for updates and more news about 'Jonathan Ross' Haunted Homecoming'.
