In the second instalment of Discovery+'s 'The Yorkshire Exorcist', paranormal historian Kate Cherrell joins Ian Lawman as he attempts to help Mark, a man who believes he has been living with the attachment of a sinister entity for over a decade.

While Ian takes the lead in the exorcism, Kate brings her own expertise in historical spiritualism and divination to the case, using a water scrying ritual to better understand the entity tormenting Mark.

Kate, known for her deep knowledge of 19th-century Victorian spiritualism and her work on the website Burials & Beyond, didn't appear in Ian's previous 'The Yorkshire Exorcist' special, but the two recently worked together on 'Jonathan Ross' Haunted Homecoming', a series Kate had also featured in alongside Jack Osbourne.

Speaking about her involvement in 'The Yorkshire Exorcist', Kate said, "I'm delighted to be reuniting with Ian Lawman for his next case as 'The Yorkshire Exorcist'. If you saw the great first special, you'll know how intense this journey is going to be."

Kate's investigative approach provides a fresh perspective, as she suggests that the force haunting Mark may not be a traditional spirit, but something entirely different. "For me, it sounds like you're a battery, and this is something that's taking your power source... but if you take away that power source, that thing will cease to exist," she explains, reassuring Mark and his partner Paul.

As night falls, Kate leads a session of water divination, a technique used for centuries to communicate with spirits. She explains, "Water is one of the elements, so a lot of people believe that spirits can manipulate it, pass through it..." Her interest is piqued when Mark reveals that water seems to repel the entity. He describes how, after showering, he feels it detach from him, only to sense its presence return once he dries off. This reaction suggests to Kate that water may hold the key to weakening the attachment.
The divination ritual requires Mark to concentrate on a bowl of water, placing his forefinger into it and moving it in a clockwise motion. Almost immediately, he experiences physical reactions - his eyelids and cheeks begin to itch, and he notices the water turning icy cold. Unbeknownst to him, Ian had secretly blessed the water before the ritual began, a move that may have triggered the entity's discomfort. "As soon as I said prayers and I blessed the water, I made this parasite react... bit by bit we're exposing its weaknesses," Ian tells Mark, reinforcing Kate's theory that water, particularly when blessed, could be a powerful tool in their battle.

With this revelation, Kate and Ian press forward with Mark's exorcism, armed with new insights into the entity's vulnerabilities. Kate's involvement adds a unique dimension to the investigation, blending historical spiritualist practices with Ian's modern-day approach to exorcism. Her ability to bridge the gap between old and new paranormal techniques offers a fascinating look at how historical methods can still play a role in contemporary supernatural cases.

Will the power of prayer, water and love be enough to rid Mark of his torrid daily torment, allowing him to begin enjoying his relationship with partner Paul? With time running out and an anguished soul desperate to be free, Ian Lawman faces his most harrowing case yet. The Yorkshire Exorcist II is available to stream exclusively on Discovery+ now.
