'The ParaPod – A Very British Ghost Hunt'
'The ParaPod: A Very British Ghost Hunt' is now available to watch for free for Amazon Prime members. This film is the first podcast to become a feature film, starring comedians-turned-podcast hosts Ian Boldsworth and Barry Dodds.

Ian and Barry started their paranormal journey in 2015 with the first episode of their podcast, 'The ParaPod'. They have since produced 30 episodes, several specials, and sell-out live shows, which have been downloaded 2.3 million times.

In the film, the comic duo travel across Britain in a modified hearse. Barry tries to convince his sceptical friend Ian about the existence of ghosts, visiting some of the country’s allegedly most haunted locations. The film combines tension and comedy, staying true to 'The ParaPod' style. The tagline reads, "you won't believe it... but he will."

Originally released in March 2020, the independent movie premiered at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London's West End and embarked on a national cinema tour. This tour was postponed due to the pandemic but resumed in September 2021. The film has been available to stream on demand since then, but it is now, for the first time ever, free for Amazon Prime members.

The 108-minute-long movie is laugh-out-loud from start to finish as the comic duo take to Britain's roads in a suitably modified hearse, calling at some of the country's best-known haunted locations. Shot on location over a three-year period, their stops include the sinister vaults beneath the streets of Edinburgh, the home of the world's most violent poltergeist, and an ancient pub said to be haunted by a promiscuous demon.

The movie is packed full of surprises and a narrative that keeps you guessing. It’s not just for fans of the paranormal or followers of the original podcast series but also for anyone looking for a good laugh. While the film has the characteristics of a documentary, it offers much more than the usual mostly-dull search for ghosts in the dark. It is a comedy road trip that delves headfirst into Britain's obsession with ghost stories.

The film caters to both believers and sceptics. Barry, a lifelong believer with a passion for the paranormal, tries to convince the ever-sceptical Ian that ghosts exist. This balance allows viewers to form their own opinions without feeling any particular agenda is being pushed.

At its core, 'The ParaPod: A Very British Ghost Hunt' is about two mates having a laugh as they travel across the country. It's quintessentially British, relatable, and familiar, like spending an evening with your friends at the pub. Despite its independent feel, the film does not come across as amateur or low budget.

There are unexpected twists and turns along the way, not just for Barry and Ian but also for audiences. It's not all laughs; the film is occasionally scary, emotional, and unsettling.

The engaging banter from the podcast is successfully recreated on the big screen. The movie ties together its fluid narrative with retrospective podcast-like chats filmed in a radio studio.

'The ParaPod: A Very British Ghost Hunt' is directed by Ian and produced by Bil Bungay, the owner of the infamous 30 East Drive, which features in the movie. The score is provided by Thomas Van Der Ree, with visual effects from Taylor Dempsey and editing by Simon Gibbs.

With 'The ParaPod: A Very British Ghost Hunt' now streaming for free on Amazon Prime, viewers can enjoy this unique blend of comedy and paranormal investigation from home. Whether you believe in ghosts like Barry or are a sceptic like Ian, the film offers an engaging watch.
