A psi wheel is a lightweight pyramid-shaped fan which can be made from paper or foil and is balanced on top of a pointed object which allows it to spin freely and easily. Because the wheel is so lightweight and easy to move, it has been used for decades to test people's psychic energy and telekinetic abilities.
Below you will find a step-by-step guide to create your very own psi wheel and learn how to move the wheel without touching it, blowing it or interfering with it in any other way.
Step 1
Cut a piece of foil or thin paper into a square of about 6x6 cm.
Step 2
Fold the square diagonally and crease it. Then open it up again.
Step 3
Then fold the square diagonally in the other direction, crease it (this should create an 'x') and open it up again.
Step 4
Turn the square over and fold it lengthwise across the centre, crease it, and unfold.
Step 5
Fold the square widthwise across the centre, crease it (this should create a '+'), and unfold.

Step 6
Turn the square over again and pinch the 'x' shape so that the middle of the lines becomes a point.
Step 7
Stick a needle or cocktail stick into a rubber eraser or weight. Try to ensure the stick is as upright as possible and not leaning to one side.
Step 8
Balance the square on top of the stick. The centre of the 'x' should sit on the point of the stick.
Step 9
First, hold your hands together, but not touching each other, and imagine the energy flowing out through them, forming a powerful field of magnetic energy. The cup your hands around the base of the wheel without making contact. Visualise the energy you've created flowing into the wheel and causing it to move. You can start with your hands far away and experiment with getting closer but you should find you're able to make the psi wheel spin without touching it.
How Does It Work?
It's said that a psi wheel spins when someone with telekinetic powers focuses their psi energy on the wheel. Psi energy is said to be an electromagnetic field and it is this force which is able to interact with the wheel, because the wheel is so light is spins.
More skeptical and scientific people will tell you that there's nothing magical or supernatural about the psi and that the wheel spins simply due to convection.
As your body is warmer than the air around you, when your warm hands are placed near the wheel they begin to gently heat the air above them and that air rises. Cooler air is sucked in between your cupped hands to replace the warm air as it rises, it's this flow of air which causes the very light wheel to spin.
To test whether science has this right or whether there could be psychic powers at work here, trying covering the the wheel in a glass or plastic bowl. Your psychic energy should be able to penetrate the cover and spin the wheel but there will be no air movement inside.
