From the dark imaginations of Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro and acclaimed director André Øvredal, based on the iconic book series, comes 'Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark'.
It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind... but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home.
The movie opens in cinemas on August 9th in the US and August 23rd in the UK. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, with many reviewers praising it for its strong horror elements, although some criticism was directed towards the screenplay.
Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Austin Abrams, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn were confirmed as the movie's stars in August 2018, with Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint and Javier Botet joining the cast later.
The first footage of the film was shown during this year's Super Bowl, with a trailer following in March. One of the movie's trailers features a cover of Donovan's 'Season Of The Witch' performed by Lana Del Rey for the film's soundtrack.
