A member of the public on a ghost hunting event with television's Fred Batt, caught what appears to be a dark shadowy figure at a Jacobean manor in South London.
The photo, which has been described as "brilliant but scary," was captured in June at Charlton House in Greenwich, a Grade I listed building that dates back to 1607 and was once home to Sir Adam Newton, the older brother of King Charles I.
The spooky shot emerged after a public ghost hunting event hosted by Most Haunted Experience, a paranormal events company that is a spin-off of the ghost hunting show. MHE give fans of the show the chance to search for spooks with stars of the long-running show, attending this event was Fred Batt, the show's resident demonologist.
Describing the photograph of the dark figure captured on camera by a member of the public, Fred said "it shows a spirit on the Minstrel's Gallery, a figure wearing a three-cornered hat that has no legs." Take a look at the photo below and see for yourself.
The gallery sits above the Minstrel Hall that runs through the beautiful house, which is one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in England and one of the most haunted houses in the region.
As well as regular sightings of shadow figures, disembodied footsteps are often heard and objects are said to mysteriously vanish before appearing in a completely different place.
Surprisingly, this isn't the first time a dark apparition has been caught on camera in the Minstrel Hall of Charlton House. Just last September a similar photo was captured on another event hosted by Fred and the MHE team. The first photo was a little darker, but appears to show a dark figure stood on the balcony alongside Fred, despite no one being up there with him at the time the photo was taken.
Staff working at the house, which is now used for events and as a wedding venue, refuse to enter the attic room alone due to an overbearing feeling of dread there. The cellars are also said to be a terrifying paranormal hotspot, while a female apparition carrying a baby has been seen wandering other parts of the building.
Could this be the spirit of one of the home's former servants who lost her baby? There are tales that when restoration work was being carried out at the mansion, the mummified remains of a baby were discovered. It's said that this was the stillborn child of a young woman serving at the house.
If you want to hunt down the creepy dark figure for yourself, then book your own ghost hunt at Charlton House with Most Haunted Experience now. The events company host regular nights at the manor, the next is on September 11. Fred said, "something always appears when I am there. Make sure you book for the next one in September!"
