Shudder, the horror-focused streaming platform, is marking its 10th anniversary in 2025 with a packed year of new releases, fan events, and a nationwide screening tour. The milestone comes after a successful 2024 for the streamer, which saw six of its titles featured in Rotten Tomatoes' top ten horror films of the year – including 'Late Night With The Devil' in the number one spot.
The anniversary celebrations kick off in April with the platform's annual 'Halfway to Halloween' event. This year's instalment includes several new titles, such as '825 Forest Road', 'Dead Mail', 'Shadow Of God', and 'Fréwaka', along with the release of a new anniversary trailer, logo and teaser artwork.
Throughout 2025, Shudder plans to showcase its most ambitious slate to date, including monthly premieres, franchise returns, and a range of exclusive content. Highlights include 'The Ugly Stepsister' (May), sci-fi thriller 'Ash' starring Aaron Paul and Eiza González (June), and the slasher 'Clown In A Cornfield', expected over the summer. Fan-favourites like 'V/H/S', 'Hell House LLC', 'The Boulet Brothers' Dragula', and 'The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs' will also return with new instalments in the autumn.
To celebrate the milestone, Shudder will be curating special themed collections for subscribers to explore. One of these, titled 'The Movies That Made Shudder', brings together some of the most influential titles in the platform's history, including 'Terrified', 'Watcher', 'Speak No Evil', 'In A Violent Nature', 'Skinamarink' and 'Host'. Another collection, 'Bloody Birthdays', highlights iconic horror films celebrating anniversaries of their own, such as the 100th anniversary of 'Phantom Of The Opera', the 60th anniversary of 'Repulsion', and the 10th anniversary of 'Crimson Peak'. Each month, Shudder will also spotlight a new top 10 selection under the banner of 'Shudder 10 x 10', exploring popular sub-genres like body horror, haunted house stories and sci-fi horror.
One of the most ambitious elements of the anniversary is the 'Shudder 10 Screening Series', a touring programme that will bring Shudder titles to cinemas across the United States. Kicking off in April, the tour will include big screen presentations of films such as 'The Amusement Park', 'Host', 'Deadstream', 'La Llorona', 'Mad God', 'Mandy', 'Revenge', 'Terrified', 'Skinamarink' and 'Tigers Are Not Afraid'. The tour will visit venues including the IFC Center in New York City, Music Box Theatre in Chicago, Seattle's SIFF Cinema, The Coolidge in Boston, and many more locations across the country.
Shudder is also supporting major horror events, including this year's Overlook Festival in New Orleans. As the festival's official sponsor, Shudder will host the opening night party, which features a horror-themed Second Line parade through the French Quarter. The festival will also include the North American premiere of 'Monster Island', a Centrepiece screening of 'The Ugly Stepsister', and a closing night showing of 'Clown In A Cornfield'. 'Fréwaka' and 'Best Wishes To All' will also be screened, along with 'Ash', which is directed by Flying Lotus, who is acting as guest curator for this year's event.
Fans can follow along on social media using the #Shudder10 and #HalfwaytoHalloween tags. Throughout the year, Shudder will also be sharing top 10 lists from filmmakers and contributors, including David Dastmalchian, The Boulet Brothers, Flying Lotus, Barbara Crampton, and Spider One.
Launched in 2015, Shudder has built a reputation for supporting unique and boundary-pushing horror films and series. As the genre continues to grow in popularity, Shudder's tenth year aims to be its biggest yet – both for long-time fans and newcomers exploring the darker side of streaming.
