While 'Alien: Romulus' didn't take home the Oscar for Best Visual Effects last night, the franchise still had a moment in the spotlight during the awards. FX and Hulu quietly slipped some brand-new footage from their upcoming series, 'Alien: Earth', into a showreel - giving fans the first brief glimpse of the highly anticipated eight-episode series. Check out the teaser clip below.

What We Know About 'Alien: Earth'

Set in 2120, just two years before the original Alien film, 'Alien: Earth' introduces a fresh cast of characters facing a new nightmare. The story kicks off when a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, forcing a young woman and a group of tactical soldiers into a terrifying discovery that could threaten the entire planet.

Unlike previous Alien stories, this is the first time the franchise has brought the horror to Earth, rather than deep space or distant colonies. FX chief John Landgraf has confirmed that the series is set "near the end of this century we're currently in," marking a significant departure from the usual settings. However, despite its placement in the timeline, fans shouldn't expect to see Ellen Ripley or any other familiar faces from the original films.

The series stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, and Adarsh Gourav. It's set to premiere this summer on FX on Hulu in the United States, though there's no word yet on international release plans.
With only a fleeting look at what's to come, the teaser raises more questions than answers - but if history tells us anything, the Alien universe thrives on mystery, tension, and terror. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the summer release.
