With just under two weeks to go until the new season starts, Netflix have dropped a final teaser trailer for Stranger Things, which starts streaming on July 4th.

The streaming giant has been teasing fans of the supernatural show that a third trip to the town of Hawkins was on the cards soon after the second season landed on Netflix in October 2017.

The news of a third season came in January 2018, when Netflix confirmed that season three had been green lit. This was followed by the news that the next series will consist of eight episodes, down one episode on season two, but back to the original count for season one.

By Spring time it had be announced that the original cast will return and several new cast members were confirmed, including 80s film star Cary Elwes.

Finally in July last year, a year before the new season, fans got their first glimpse of season three in the first teaser trailer, which took the form of an 80s TV advert for the fictional Starcourt Mall, a new indoor shopping mall opening in Hawkins.

After more teasers from the show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, finally early this year the streaming date of July 4, 2019 was announced.

Now the final countdown is on and on Independence Day, fans will find out what happens next. Although Eleven managed to successfully seal the gate to the Upside Down in the final episode of season two. The trailer seems to suggest something went wrong, as did the closing scene of the last season, which showed the Mind Flayer ominously looming over the Snow Ball, revealing to the audience that despite Hoper and Eleven's efforts to block its portal to our realm, it is still a threat.

The Duffer brothers said, "they've shut the door on the Mind Flayer, but not only is it still there in the Upside Down, it's very much aware of the kids, and particularly Eleven. It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode."
