This page is more than eight years old.
This is one of my favourite stories to have been circulated on the internet in recent month. It’s the tale of a 19-year-old girl who is convinced she’s pregnant and due to give birth to Jesus any day now.
Haley, who says she is eight and a half months pregnant, has taken six home pregnancy tests and even though each one has come back negative, she’s still says "I know my pregnancy is real."
Her mother, Kristi got fed up with the teens outlandish claims and took Hayley to a clinic where she was tested once more, and once again it came back negative.
But Hayley is adamant that she is carrying the son of God, she said “I've gained at least 22 pounds. I was sleeping one night and my baby punched the bottom of my stomach and kicked me, and I can feel his head right here, right below my belly button."
Kristi isn’t convinced about her daughter’s story, she even goes as far as to call her caught “a compulsive liar.” According to Kristi, Hayley has lied in the past about having appeared on American Idol and has even claimed that Eminem is her biological father.
I’m sure Mary had an equally hard time convincing people, especially Joseph, that she was pregnant with the messiah. Hayley says “my family, my friends, my pastors at church, they don’t believe that I’m pregnant."
To me this sounds less like a compulsive lie and more like an actual psychological condition, this girl isn’t lying, I think she really believes she is pregnant with Jesus.
“I know it’s Jesus. I don’t care if my family disowns me. It really comes down to if you’re a true believer in Jesus or not… I don’t care what the home pregnancy test or a doctor says. When I give birth to my baby, no one is going to deny him because he’s my saviour.”
Whereas a normal mother might worry about the mental state of her daughter, Kristi decided the best thing to do was to humiliate her on television and encouraged Hayley to appear on the Dr. Phil Show.

During the show, Hayley’s mother and sister Adriana told viewers how she’d been "acting crazy," yelling and even pushing her mum the night before they went on the show.
Hayley was examined as part of the show and even underwent an ultrasound examination, which of course showed no foetus and Hayley refused to believe the doctor’s expert advice.
What Does An Ultrasound Reveal?
It seems though that the producers of the TV show were a little more understanding than Hayley’s mum, they came to the conclusion that Haley and her sister Adriana, who also featured on the show, had suffered an abusive childhood and while Adriana had been properly treated, Haley never was.
Haley hasn’t been diagnosed with a psychological disorder but her symptoms match a condition known as "false pregnancy,” in which a woman has all the symptoms of a pregnancy, but without an actual foetus growing in her womb
Dr. Phil has given her access to psychologist. It’s just a shame she had to be dragged in front of a camera in order to obtain the help she needs.
