'The Craft: Legacy' Named Best Paranormal Movie Of 2020
This article is more than four years old.
The new version of the cult movie, 'The Craft' has been named the Best Paranormal Movie of 2020 in the third annual Paranormal Entertainment Awards.
'The Craft: Legacy', which was released just before Halloween, is the latest supernatural horror offering from Blumhouse and is set 20 years after the original. The film picked up the gold award after receiving the most votes from fans of supernatural movies.
The win was announced during this year's Paranormal Entertainment Awards, which were dished out during an online virtual event that was watched by thousands of fans of supernatural entertainment and ghost hunting. The film was just one of a whole list of shows, paranormal teams and individuals who were honoured in the third annual event. You can see the full list of winners here.
The winners were selected by the public who voted more than 75,000 times on shortlist made up of paranormal entertainment that was nominated by the public earlier in the year.
The re-make stars Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, Zoey Luna and Cailee Spaeny as a group of outcasts who form their own witches coven to dabble in black magic and the occult. David Duchovny and Michelle Monaghan also appear as the parents of one of the girls, Hannah, played by Spaeny.
The original is one of the best-loved movies on the subject of witchcraft, and went on to become the highest grossing witch movie of all time. Now more than two decades on, it is still a must-watch movie for many fans every Halloween.
Soon after the original movie proved a success, a sequel was announced but the idea was soon scrapped, after one of its original stars, Fairuza Balk, told producers that she was not on board with the idea.
It wasn't until 2016 that we first heard the news that a Hollywood remake was in the works, when Sony Pictures announced that they'd lined up Leigh Janiak to direct the movie. Then in 2019 Balk's co-star, Robin Tunney, confirmed that a reboot is indeed happening.
