This article is more than three years old.
Lead by Danny Moss, The Haunted Hunts team are back for their fourth season entitled 'Project Invocation'. In the episode four the team are sent to a haunted inn in Staffordshire.
In the last episode three of the team were sent off alone to do an investigation, so it should come as no surprise that this time it was the turn of Danny and fellow investigator Rebecca Salisbury-Moss to go it alone.
The pair have absolutely no idea where they are going and are not armed told the history of the location. The tactics and methods used during their investigation will be explained to them upon arrival, which means the team really are in the dark and will be pushed outside of their comfort zone and to the limits of fear. The experiment is designed to test if fear itself can invoke paranormal activity.
After being given nothing more than what Danny recognises as a Cannock postcode on the morning of the investigation, they head to the historic coaching inn that dates back to 1636 where the the owners are experiencing increasing levels of paranormal activity.
Once at the Four Crosses Inn, Danny was handed instructions for him Becki on how to conduct their investigation of the pub. It was his job to share these instructions with his fellow investigator. The instructions tell Danny and Becki that there will be two sets of lone vigil, followed by a joint vigil.
Danny started out in the pub's attic, which wasn't as bad as it sounds as today it houses guest bedrooms. Danny heard strange sounds around him, including a male voice and what sounded like footsteps or movement. Danny was armed with an SLS camera, a special type of camera that uses 3D mapping technology to detect human shapes and highlights them on its screen in the form of a stick figure.
Meanwhile, Becki seemed to get the worse deal for the first vigil. She was sent down to the basement alone and she wasn't happy about it. She said, "I hate basements, I hate them. And I hate pub basements because you hear horrific stories about things that go on in pub basements." It didn't take long for her to start hearing unexplained sounds coming from the darkness around her.
The pair then moved into their next set of lone vigils. While Becki was in one of the bedrooms, Danny set up a ghost hunting gadget in the downstairs bar. Called an Afterlife Box, it produces echoey bursts of static, it's said that spirits can manipulate this sounds to communicate. Danny said, "this may act as a platform for something to come through and communicate with me." Danny heard what he deemed to be several interesting responses.

For the final part of their investigation, Danny and Becki went down to the basement together to conduct an experiment called the Estes Method. This involved Becki being blindfolded and wearing noise cancelling headphones, eliminating all external influences. Then the output from a Spirit Box was pumped in through the headphones. A Spirit Box rapidly scans through radio frequencies, it's believed that spirits can manipulate the static and white noise in these frequency ranges to form words and sentences. The experiment proved to be especially strange and terrifying for Becki.
Danny summed up the active investigation by saying, "it all started to get a little bit weird after my second lone vigil with the After Life Box session, and the session in the cellar with Bec." He added, "I do believe that if we were to spend consecutive nights here we would really witness something."
The team's challenge continues at six more terrifying locations where they'll be given another set of taxing challenges to test their nerve and push them to the limits of their fear. We'll be bringing you an episode guide for the fifth instalment of 'Project Invocation' tomorrow.
