A north London flat with a surprising connection to one of the greatest UFO hoaxes of all time is on the market for £795,000. This three-bedroom apartment in Hampstead Garden Suburb was once home to Gary Shoefield, a UFO enthusiast and film producer known for his role in the infamous 'Alien Autopsy' footage.

Shoefield, alongside his business partner Ray Santilli, was responsible for the 1995 film that purported to show an autopsy of an extraterrestrial being recovered from the Roswell UFO crash. The footage became an international sensation, sparking debates about its authenticity and fuelling conspiracy theories. However, it later emerged that the so-called leaked military film was actually created on a modest set in Shoefield's own living room.

The alien bodies, far from being otherworldly, were made from hollow plaster casts filled with sheep brains, offal, and raspberry jam to create a gruesome effect. In 2006, Santilli finally admitted that the film was a hoax, though he maintained that it was based on genuine footage that had since been lost. He claimed they had originally purchased real alien autopsy footage for $30,000, only to discover upon their return to the UK that it was too damaged to use. As a result, they decided to recreate what they had seen.

The bizarre tale even made it to the big screen. In 2006, the story of Santilli and Shoefield's elaborate deception was turned into a comedy film, 'Alien Autopsy,' starring British television presenters Ant and Dec as the duo behind the infamous footage.
Now, Shoefield's former London residence is on the market. Located in Heathcroft, a striking red-brick 1920s mansion block, the flat offers a desirable location near Hampstead Heath Extension. The recently refurbished apartment boasts three double bedrooms, a large reception room, an eat-in kitchen, and a family bathroom. It also benefits from secure off-street parking, a porter service, and access to beautifully maintained communal gardens.

For any UFO enthusiasts or fans of the 'Alien Autopsy' saga, this property offers a chance to own a home with a unique place in UFO history.
