Amazon have confirmed that Prime Video will become the home of British comedians Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's next project, as they take on the roles of paranormal investigators in their upcoming comedy-horror series, 'Truth Seekers'.

Simon and Nick are no strangers to the world of the paranormal and the weird. In 'Shaun Of The Dead' the duo battled the living dead, they befriended an extraterrestrial in their 2011 movie, 'Paul', and their 2007 comedy 'Hot Fuzz' has many references to strange and quirky occult practices.

In a plot which sounds very similar to that of the upcoming ParaPod movie. Simon will take on the roll of a ghost hunter named Dave who along with his partner Gus, played by Nick, aim to uncover and film paranormal sightings across the UK.

Variety write that in the show the duo will stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers, and abandoned hospitals using an array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos and share their adventures on an online channel. Their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, terrifying, and even deadly as the pair begin to uncover a conspiracy that could threaten the entire human race.

Nick told Variety that "everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making 'Truth Seekers' with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It's been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon's commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn't be collaborating with a bigger or better team."

Simon earlier confirmed that each of the eight half hour episodes will follow three ghost hunters as they attempt to solve a different case of the unexplained. We're not yet sure who the third ghost hunter will be, but further casting will be announced soon. Simon said, "each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something."

He explained that the trio will start their journey into the supernatural as a "small business venture," but he says that "it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It's a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown."

Speaking about the deal with Amazon, Simon said, "Nick and I are delighted that 'Truth Seekers' has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can't think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen."

The series, which goes into production in September, is one of the first productions to be devised by Simon and Nick's newly formed independent production company, Stolen Picture. They'll be co-writing with Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz.

Simon and Nick are best known for their iconic roles in the three flavours Cornetto trilogy, a series of comedy films directed by Edgar Wright, written by Wright along with Pegg. The trilogy consists of 'Shaun Of The Dead', 'Hot Fuzz' and 'The World's End'.
