UFO Spotted Over Sydney, Australia

At sunset on Wednesday 24th March 2010 Fiona Hartigan, a Sydney Mum spotted a UFO in the skied above the city and caught it on camera for the world to see.

She claimed that she had jumped out of her car to photograph the sunset when the mysterious object moved silently across the Sydney skyline at Chipping Norton.

UFO expert, Doug Moffett from a New South Wales UFO Research Group suggested that it may have been a strange "electrical anomaly", the likes of which no one has ever seen before. Or perhaps it "an extra-terrestrial craft.”

It's all pretty convincing and as Doug says "why would anyone make these stories up?”

OK, back to reality…

The photo was taken from outside the car? Nope, you can clearly see a reflection of the dashboard over the trees on the right.

The object is at a different focal range to the sky, trees and the distant car - it appears blurred because it is closer to the camera.

In reality it's a speck of dirt stuck on the car's windscreen. This tiny bit of dirt as become the subject of national news</a> in Australia.

Of course speak to an "expert" and he'll tell you that the object's blur "could just be the way it's shaped" or "it could be due to its propulsion system."
