Unexplained: Caught On Camera - Mr Fritz The Ventriloquist's Doll With A Life Of Its Own

Michael Diamond is an illusionist based in Liverpool. Amongst his collection of unusual performance memorabilia is a creepy ventriloquist doll named Mr Fritz. The 75-year-old doll was made by a prisoner of war during World War II.

Michael started noticing strange happenings with the 1940s dummy, which Barri called "the scariest dummy I've ever seen". Michael witnessed its eyes opening and the glass case it's kept in opening. Michael decided to try to capture the activity on camera.

This lead to the haunting video footage seen in the show, which was captured at his home in September 2019. The clip shows the creepy moment that the doll appears to blink and move its mouth. Moments later the door on the glass case swings open.

The mouth opens and seems to utter two or three words or syllables, Deborah is convinced the dummy is mouthing the phrase "help me" but it could be any short phrase.

After watching the clip, Ciarán said "the history of previous owners could effect what happens to any particular doll that's associated with that particular person, especially if you buy into a paranormal of association, possession, or even curse."

Although he adds, "there's no denying that you see this particular head blinking, the explanation for it is slightly more difficult without knowing the animatronic aspect of the head, if there is any mechanism inside that might be causing that."

Jayne is also a little skeptical. She said, "the owner, Michael, is an illusionist, so he will know all about techniques and slight-of-hand to do to maybe give the illusion of a haunted object."

Also in the episode we meet Joshua Runyan, a security guard from Georgia who encountered strange goings on in mid-2019 at Colonia Park Cemetery, the oldest burial ground in Savannah. He started to share the strange incidents on TikTok, going by the name Security1275.

He managed to document eerie disembodied voices in the mausoleum and even chased what appeared to be a phantom child around the graves at night.

Barri said, "I think that the sounds that Josh the security guard is hearing are sounds of spirits that are in torment, spirits that are clearly trying to get his attention and communicate with him."

While Jayne added, "spirits can absolutely be trapped in places, and often it's when they don't know where to go. They're caught in limbo or they need their story to be told. They're seeking justice of some kind."
