Woman Divorces A Victorian Ghost Less Than A Year After Tying The Knot
This article is more than one year old.
It's a ghostly relationship that's made plenty of headlines over the last few years, but now Brocarde, a former guest of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on 'This Morning', has announced she's parted ways with the ghost of a Victorian soldier after less than a year.
Brocarde first told the world about her phantom lover, a Victorian soldier called Eduardo, on the ITV mid-morning show back in 2021. The 40-year-old from Oxfordshire never believed in the paranormal growing up, but that all changed after Eduardo's appearance, when she fell head over heels in love with him after he appeared in her bedroom on a stormy night and terrified her.
She said that in the weeks after the first encounter with Eduardo, "things would just start to happen, like weird and wonderful things would start to happen." Things like love hearts appearing while she was showering.
Fast forward to Halloween 2022 and Brocarde married her ghostly lover, once again making headlines and banking another 'This Morning' appearance. Video posted on social media showed her at the ceremony wearing black next to her invisible husband-to-be.
However, not long after the wedding, the posthumous marriage started to break down, with Brocarde citing Eduardo's affair with the late Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe. According to Brocarde, her ghostly lover first became attracted to the actress after spotting her spirit in the chapel on their wedding day. Since then, he's been returning to Brocarde from the ethereal realm smelling of Marilyn's favourite perfume, Chanel No.5.
This, on top of the fact that Brocarde was already angry with Eduardo after he drank too much on their honeymoon in Barry Island.
If you're wondering how you divorce the dead, Brocarde returned to the chapel where they got married in order to exorcise him from her mind.
This isn't the first ghostly divorce to make headlines. Back in 2019, Amanda Teague also appeared in the news after divorcing her deceased husband less than three years after they tied the knot. Amanda claimed the separation came after the 300-year-old pirate named Jack tried to ruin her life and almost killed her.
