About This Video
This video was uploaded to the YouTube channel Dead Air in December 2022.
Bowes has been known as a paranormal hotspot for many years and an old school favourite for many ghost hunting groups.
Once the Springwell Colliery, this Railway yard became a huge part of employment in the local area at a time that the North East of England was leading the way for locomotive engineering and coal mining.
But sadly, working here was very dangerous and the list of fatalities at this site is enormous (more can be found in the colliery’s DMM page which has an incomplete collection of fatality reports).
And many are still said to be still here - some were never even recovered and there are known to be at least 27 men and boys still buried hundred of feet below this lane. They will probably be down there forever.
The accounts of paranormal activity here are frightening - some friendly, some extreme poltergeist activity.
About Dead Air
Dead Air was formed in 2009 by University friends Rob Davies and Chris Felton, originally as a radio show in Newcastle based FM station, NE1fm. The show originally was based around encouraging callers to talk about their own experiences and opinions on the paranormal, as well as monthly live broadcasts from some of the North East's scariest places.
Chris works alongside Alan Robson, the host of Metro Radio's Nightowls and Sky TV's 'Scariest Places on Earth', and plans to make a full return to the show in 2021. Rob has been a radio presenter with NE1fm on the music scene, but is now 100% committed to creating paranormal content for the channel.
